Yeah sure, you have the best mountain biking in the Midwest right out your door when staying at the cabin, but why not take the canoe out on the river after a long ride?

The Cabin Itself

Living room, yes the trim is done on the door now.

This is right behind the cabin , leading to the Esker trail. This is a great place for hiking, mountain biking, and snowshoeing. All out the door. No driving needed.

The infamous Cable albino deer. It is rare to see it. We only have this once.

Out on a hike, absorbing just one of the many, many lakes up there.

Eating lunch on the deck, looking for bears, deer, foxes, bobcats, bald eagles, and wolves.

What do you need to do when you go.

So you rented the cabin, here is the deal.

The water heater is turned off. It is located in the basement, controlled at the circuit breaker to the left of the bottom of the stairs. It is well marked and very easy to turn off. Please turn it off when you leave.

The heat is set at 45 degrees. The thermostat is next to the TV in the living room. Use it as needed, but please turn it back down/turn AC off when done.

Leave the cabin as you found it. That is please pick up after yourself and clean.

Trash. There is a garbage dump just down the road, 1/4 mile at most. They are open Wed and Sat mornings, cost is about $2 a bag. Please haul out your trash with you. If you do not have room for this, ask me about an alternative.

Cabin Amenities.

Full Kitchen
-Although, we don't want you to go crazy, you are welcome to condiments and such. Why buy a full sized bottle of ketchup for one bbq?

3 Full sized beds, 2 full sized futons, on smaller futon.
-There is an upstairs loft area with two rooms that are separated by an opening. In each room there is a full size bed, dresser, and large windows. In one of these rooms is a smaller futon as well as the bed. On the main floor there is one bedroom that contains a full sized bed and dresser. The living room holds 2 full sized futons and a lay-z-boy chair.

Dog Friendly
-Your TRAINED dog is welcome. Just check him/her for ticks after being outside everytime. They just soak'em up out there.

Air conditioning
-It may not get used much, but there is central air!!

Bathroom
-Yes, there is indoor plumbing and a full bath to go with it.

Washer and Dryer
-Finish your weekend without having to haul back a huge bag of smelly clothes!!

Charcoal BBQ
-Grill up some brats, a WI staple!

Deck
-This is a great place to eat a meal and watch for bears crossing the field in your view.

Storage area
-Large shed type building to house your bikes and gear. You could squeeze a car in their if needed as well.

Basement
-This holds the washer and dryer and is a great place to set up ski waxing areas.

Canoe
-There is access to the Namekagen river 1/3 miles away. The canoe has life preservers and wheel attachments for you to transport it down.

TV/DVD/VCR/Antenna
-The channel selection is not great (6 at the most), but there is a library of tapes and DVD's for just about every one's tastes.

Sheets/Towels
-There are sheets on the bed and towels upstairs. You are welcome to bring your own, but you are responsible for washing and putting back whatever you used.

Groceries
-Rondeau's is the nearest "large" grocery store with adjacent hardware store. It is 3 mile away in downtown Cable. It does not have the greatest hours, especially in the winter, so take note.

Fall time

Now is one of the best times to spend a weekend "Up North". Incredible fall colors dominate the scenery, and cool crisp temps make the outdoors a fun place get active without so drenching yourself in sweat. The deck offers a great viewing area to look for local wildlife including the occasional black bear. The bears are amazing to see in the wild, but they can be hard to find as they typically run away scared at any signs of humans.

So, imagine the cool air and vivid autumn colors while you hike to one of the nearby falls, or take in another amazing mountain bike ride. Maybe enjoy the sun setting as you watch for bears out on the deck. Anyway you look at it, time spent "Up North" is a workout for your pleasure senses.

I, personally, like to get away from bustle and BS when I head "up north" and Hayward seems to have a lot of people there most day, so I'd rather stay near Cable and head back to Hayward, if necessary. Charly's place is in a great location for riding out from the "cabin" and it's a fully functional house, so you have all the necessities to be comfortable. It's not a huge, fancy lodge or anything.. just a quiet, comfortable place about as close to Telemark as you can get without owning a Town home. "

Spring is coming.

Cable, WI is going through their spring thaw now. Soon comes the summer outdoor activities that can all be started within 1/4 mile or less from the cabin. Mountain biking, road biking, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, bird watching, fishing, and just plain enjoying the outdoors in the summer are almost here.
